BM PHOTOS is run by Stéphanie Borcard and Nicolas Métraux, a Swiss duo of photographers. Based in Bangkok, Thailand for the past three years, they recently moved back to Switzerland.
Borcard & Métraux’s work explores social issues, both universal and specific, from different and unexpected perspectives. Their personal projects are influenced by both their travels and the relationship between the individual and society, fueled by a desire for a better understanding, and continual questioning of, the world.
When not busy shooting commercial assignments, chances are high to find them working on new projects in remote locations of the Balkans, China or South-East Asia.
In November 2015, Grey Skies Black Birds was published as a monograph by GOST Books, London.
INSTITUTE represents selected features and Hollandse Hoogte distributes their archive.
Widely exhibited across Europe and Asia they are also the recipients of numerous awards including First Place in the Swiss Press Photo 2015.
Their clients include: Der Spiegel, The Washington Post, XL Semanal, Wordt Vervolgd – Amnesty International, Die Zeit, NZZ am Sonntag, NZZ, Le Temps, Report on Business, Sept Magazine, South China Morning Post Magazine, Swissinfo, The Swiss Embassy in BiH, The United Nations, Celestica, …
